Bravo Girls In Heaven After meeting Saints and Angels

Bravo Girls 1

The Bravo Girls started their 2014 Hockey 5’s adventure yesterday with games against the A and B teams of WIHO — The Saints and the Angels.

The last time Bravo Girls (Empire Skate Girls at the time) played against the WIHO Angels was in the 2011 Hockey 5’s Tournament, where the Angels beat the Empire Skate Girls by a score of 2-1.

This year’s rematch between the two teams was an exciting battle. Both teams exchanged chances with the Angels having the edge in shots on goal.

Bravo goalie Virginia Wong’s exceptional play turned and the team’s great defensive work turned out to be the difference.

The game ended in a scoreless tie as both teams went home with a point in standings.

Bravo Girls also played against the Saints, arguably the strongest team in the division.

The underdogs Bravo, looking to improve over last year’s 9-0 defeat, came out with an ultra-defensive game plan.

The team defended well against high powered Saints players like Estelle Ip and Anqi Tan.

Despite being bombarded with shots from all over their defensive zone, Bravo managed to limit Saints scoring to just 5 goals.

The score plus the scoreless tie against the Angels put the Bravo Girls 4th in round-robin standings, which may turn out to be crucial in determining the final standings.

The Bravo Girls were courageous in both games and earned great crowd support at the rink.

Forward Rebecca Chow suffered from an upper-body injury and is doubtful for their next game against the Abu Dhabi Storm.
