Lackluster MI Bravo Tied Grizzlies, Promotion Hopes Still Alive

MI Bravo did the impossible last Tuesday night when they beat Division D favorites WIHO Avida with a convincing score of 5-1.  Yesterday night Bravo played their 2nd game in the 3-game round-robin against the Grizzlies.  The game was expected to be tight as Bravo only managed to beat the Grizzlies 1-0 last time they met.

Bravo was still without injured defenseman Michael Shoong so manager Yang brought in Mighty Doug to take his place.  Grizzlies manager CK Ling also made a change to bring in forward Roger Li in place of Ben Wong.

The game started out with Bravo dominating the game while Grizzlies showed toughness and played great defense all game long.  Red hot Bravo forward Ho Ka Fai (HKF) broke the scoreline in the first period, scoring his division-leading 4th goal of the 2nd round-robin.  Shots on goal was 8-3 for Bravo after the first period.

Grizzlies never looked bad though out the game, and they continued to fight back in the second period.  It was Bravo who slacked off with only 5 minutes left in the game, allowing Grizzlies forward Roger Li to a break-away and the game-tying goal.  Bravo then quickly jumped into defensive mode and managed to finish the game with a 1-1 tie.

With one game left to play in the 2nd round-robin, it is still possible for any one of Bravo, Grizzlies, or WIHO Avida to gain promotion to Division C.  However, with the important WIHO Avida win last week, MI Bravo is the team in the driver’s seat.  With a win 8:15 pm next Sunday against bottom-ranked SWAG, Bravo will secure promotion.
