Bravo Girls Stopped At Quarter-Finals, Wendigos March On

2013_Hockey5sThe Bravo Girls Faced the Southern Stars in the women’s divisional quarter-finals.  Yet another courageous effort from the Bravo Girls but they were no match for the power team from Australia.  Bravo Girls captain said it was a great learning experience for the girls, and they plan to train hard and come back again next year.

The last game of the day featured the Wendigos playing against the Bangkok Raiders in the Asian C divisional semi-finals.  Kazakh captain Anvar Stamkulov shifted the game into high gear early on by scoring two magnificent goals.  Center Inar Uteyev was superb today as he added two goals and two assists.  However, the young team from Thailand refused to give up after a 4-1 lead and mounted a strong come back.  Wendigos led the game 5-4 with less than one minute in the game, and the Raiders managed to tie the game and send it to over time.

Wendigos finally came back alive during over time.  Uteyev made a great pass to Stamkulov waiting in front of the net, and forward Jason Leung put in the game winning goal and sent the Wendigos into the finals of the Asian C division.

The team will play Sammi Superstars tomorrow in the finals.  Puck drops at 4:05 pm.
